This week we are celebrating Ebooks Minnesota's sixth year of existence. So much has changed over these past six years but Ebooks Minnesota continues to offer local, national, and internationally published books to Minnesota residents with no checkouts, holds, waits, or limits. What began as a two-year pilot project in 2016, with approximately 2,000 books from six Minnesota independent publishers, is now a program of Minitex, currently containing 9,000+ titles from twenty-two publishers and it continues to grow.
These past few years have seen a change in platform, from BiblioBoard to MackinVIA, a diversity audit, an environmental assessment, and a lot of new books added. Some of the content added between 2016 and 2020 include Ojibwe language titles, hi-lo titles, a large collection of graphic novels from Dark Horse Comics, mysteries from Poisoned Pen, and a large collection of books for K-8 from Minnesota publishers like Capstone and Jump!, as well as several titles around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
