from EBSCO:
We are excited to inform you about upcoming changes to enhance the accessibility of the EBSCO eBooks user experience, aligning with requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA), which goes into effect on June 28, 2025, and mandates accessibility for a diverse group of products and services, including e-books.
The EBSCO eBooks experience will soon offer the following new user-facing functionality that will enhance the user experience for all users, even those not using assistive technologies:
- Text-to-speech functionality for both EPUB- and PDF-formatted e-books
- Viewing customizations for EPUB-formatted e-books
- Display of accessibility-related eBook metadata
EBSCO is also hard at work replacing the DRM solution for EBSCO eBooks and its related reader, meaning that users will soon no longer need to use Adobe Digital Editions for DRM-protected EBSCO eBooks. Find additional guidance on EBSCO Connect.
