Body

The Minitex Network for Open & Affordable Practices (MNOP) is a new Minitex program supporting librarians and other academic support staff in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota working to increase adoption of open educational resources and library affordable content strategies. MNOP will officially launch on November 14 with an online kickoff event and exciting guest speaker (more on that in due time). If you are interested in attending the kickoff event, go ahead and block off your calendar from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14. More details will be shared soon.

Until then, we are soft launching the program website at https://mnop.org to facilitate talking about and sharing the site during the fall conference season. There are a few areas on the site still in need of content. They will be completed in the coming weeks. Consider the site the home base for a wider set of relationships and activities forming a network of mutual support and professional growth. Other regions have successfully organized to focus on the support of open education and affordability initiatives, and we're aspiring to be in that group.

The website’s structure of practices and subpractices are presented to map out the domain, point in the direction of helpful information or reflection, and serve as buckets to collect our shared outputs, work, and events. The site will be explained in more detail at kickoff, but for now feel free to look around, take the heuristic self-assessment, add your name to the directory, register OER/course adoptions, or let us know something additional you’d like covered on the site. If you have experiences you’d be willing to share for the benefit of the larger group, or ideas for how the network can work together, please get in touch!
