Monday, August 2, is Rita Baladad’s last day with Minitex as she is relocating to the mountains of Arizona. Rita has worked as an E-Resources Librarian in the Cooperative Purchasing and E-Resources Services (CPERS) unit for fifteen years.
During that time, Rita distinguished herself as an outspoken advocate for libraries and as an expert in e-resources. She understands the consortial world deeply and has many connections within it. She’s saved libraries millions of dollars and thousands of hours of time. Her experience managing the complex mechanisms of some of our large group purchases, including with publishers like Elsevier and Sage, will be difficult to replace. And the personal relationships she’s built with library staff around the state have cemented long-lasting organizational ties and served Minitex well.
Rita, thank you for your many contributions to Minitex and to our libraries. We wish you the very best on your adventures out West!
The Cooperative Purchasing team can be reached at cpers@umn.edu. Libraries with questions about e-resources can contact us there any time.
Our transition plan is in place and a posting for an E-Resources Librarian will be shared soon.
