NDSU Libraries is looking for a Collection Strategies Librarian to join our team! This individual will be located within the Information Services & Systems department, and is responsible for the management and development of the NDSU Libraries’ collections in alignment with the institution’s academic goals and research priorities. The Collection Strategies Librarian will oversee the acquisition, processing, management, assessment and strategic collection development initiatives across multiple formats, including print, electronic and digital resources. In addition, this individual will work to ensure the discoverability, integrity, reliability and functionality of the Libraries’ bibliographic database, licensed resources and pertinent modules of the integrated library system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Accredited M.A. (Library Science), M.S. (Library Science), M.L.S., or M.L.I.S.
  • Two years experience in acquisitions, collection development/management, or related library functions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and best practices in acquisitions, collection management and library resource development.
  • Expertise with integrated library systems (Alma/PrimoVE) and electronic resource management tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Record of experience with collection assessment tools and methodologies, including usage statistics and user feedback analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data to inform strategic collection decisions.
  • Proven ability in successful budget management and cost-effective decision-making related to library collections.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with collection assessment tools and methodologies, including usage statistics and user feedback analysis.
  • Knowledge of scholarly publishing, licensing agreements, and trends in academic resource sharing.
  • Experience working in an academic library environment.
  • Experience in budget management and cost-effective decision-making related to library collections.
  • Experience with batch processing of MARC records
