What made you want to become a librarian?

A family friend who was a librarian told me that I was going to be a librarian when I grew up, but I didn't take it seriously until I saw a librarian help a patron look up a transportation service AND help him make the appointment. That's when I realized that librarianship is about helping people as much as it is about connecting people with knowledge, and I knew that's what I wanted to do with my life.

What makes you particularly excited to work at Metronet?

I am especially excited about Metronet's advocacy mission. Throughout my library career, I've tried to get the community to practice civic engagement, whether it was through comment cards, contacting their representatives, or information on voting. I am excited to help Metronet advocate for libraries, so that all Minnesotans in all walks of life can find the help and resources they need in any type of library.

Tell us something about yourself that might come as a surprise.

I enjoy watching semi-professional wrestling! Minnesota has a vibrant, inclusive wrestling scene; my friend Nicolle introduced me to it a few years ago and I've been hooked ever since. It makes sense though, it's physical storytelling so it fits right in with the library.
