South Dakota State University’s (SDSU) Hilton M. Briggs Library welcomes applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Librarian rank. This vacancy offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking Public Services team. The position reports to the Head of Public Services, is located onsite in Brookings, South Dakota, and is full-time and benefits-eligible with a negotiated contract year of 12-months with a minimum salary of $70,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide liaison, outreach, and support to students, staff, and faculty in assigned disciplines to ensure collections and services meet faculty and student needs.
  • Provide both in-person and online reference service and research consultation, including some evening and weekend hours.
  • Participate in the library’s instruction program, both in person and virtually, by teaching general information literacy skills and advanced subject-specific research skills to undergraduate and graduate students.
