Quick Summary
The Perpich Center's Native Authors & Artists Series continues into its second season as a way of introducing K-12 educators and librarians to books by Dakota and Ojibwe authors and illustrators.
Each event features an interview and Q&A with the guest, resource lists, and time in the Perpich Library to peruse the extensive collection of books by Minnesota and other Native authors. The Native Authors & Artist Series occurs in-person at Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley (6125 Olson Memorial Highway) from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend, and light snacks will be provided. A clock-hours form will be available following the event, and the first 40 attendees will receive a free book. If you cannot attend in person, interviews are recorded and posted on the Native Authors & Artists page.
On Tuesday, October 8, the guests include Thomas Peacock (Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe) and Betsy Albert-Peacock (Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe). Both have authored numerous books and together they own Black Bears and Blueberries Publishing focused on fiction and non-fiction books by Native authors and illustrated by Native artists.
