Virtual Book Club

Minnesota Hands & Voices is hosting a Virtual Book Club for deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) students ages 10-17. Representation matters, so each book features DHH characters, Deaf culture, and frequently a DHH author. The book club is held during February and November. Each discussion is led by a Parent Guide who has a DHH child, as well as a DHH Guide and a Deaf Mentor who are both DHH themselves. More information is available in the flyer from Minnesota Hands & Voices.

Online Book Discussion

On Saturday, November 9, beginning at 10:00 a.m., Marie Pank, Shelby Geldon, and Emily Smith-Lundberg will lead a 90-minute discussion about the book, “Give Me A Sign.” This event is best for students ages 12 and up. One parent/guardian is required to attend. Contact Event Coordinator Leslie Carnegie-Hilde to get a free copy of the book for your child or student. Young readers who already have the book are also welcome to attend. More information is available in the flyer from Minnesota Hands & Voices.

Books for Children who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or DeafBlind

This list details nearly 500 books for readers ranging from birth to young adult (YA). The goal of sharing these resources is to encourage school and public librarians to display some of these books throughout the school year. The list is updated regularly and includes a cover photo, title, short description, and the lexile level (if available) for each book.
