Position Summary

The Library Department at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invite applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit eligible position of Access Service Associate - Circulation Lead. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2024.

The Access Service Associate - Circulation Lead is responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and mentoring student employees, both as an essential service but also as a high impact student retention practice. This position is also responsible for the management, support, and development of the Saint John’s University (SJU) Alcuin Library media collection, coordinating course reserves, intercampus deliveries, as well as assisting with library projects and providing direct service to library patrons.

This is a highly visible position demanding frequent interaction with faculty, students, staff, other members of the academic community, and outside patrons. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where students can find community with faculty, staff, and each other. This position is responsible for library security, emergency, and safety procedures. This position works standard office hours, but may be required to work an occasional evening or weekend shift.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience. 
  • Experience with standard word processing and spreadsheet packages.
  • Comfortable with basic research skills.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to manage customer service situations.
  • Experience with teaching, training, mentoring, and/or supervising.
  • High level of accuracy in performing all job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the department to accomplish departmental goals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to direct, train, and mentor student employees.
