Primary Function

The Metadata Assistant is primarily responsible for copy cataloging electronic resources, including ebooks and streaming videos. They partner with staff in the Cataloging, Metadata, and Digitization Services Department to support cataloging projects that resolve issues related to the catalog and library metadata. This position also performs project support for department and library initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Copy Cataloging/Metadata (65%)
  • Project Support (30%)
  • Other duties as assigned (5%)

Required Qualifications

  • Experience copy cataloging library resources. 
  • Experience working with OCLC Connexion.
  • Knowledge of cataloging and metadata workflows and services.
  • Knowledge of Library of Congress Subject Headings Genre terms and MARC fields used for accessible resources such as closed captioning.

This is a part-time, temporary position. The base pay is $17.50/hour.
