Primary Function

The Metadata Specialist Supervisor is primarily responsible for the management and supervision of library assistants in the Cataloging and Metadata Services Department, including direction and assignment of work to those individuals. They partner with curatorial staff in Archives & Special Collections (ASC) and staff at other branch libraries to develop cataloging projects and identify and resolve issues related to the catalog and library metadata. This position also performs copy and complex cataloging.

Required Qualifications

  • Five years experience cataloging library resources. Experience can consist of a combination of copy, complex copy, and original cataloging. College education can be substituted for library or research experience on a year-for-year basis up to three years, plus two years of relevant library experience and/or five years of relevant library or research experience.
  • Broad knowledge of cataloging and metadata workflows and services.
