The Imaging Specialist and Digital Projects Coordinator will support the University Libraries’ priority to provide open access to the University of South Dakota’s cultural heritage collections that advance teaching, learning, and scholarship. Reporting to the Head of the Digital Imaging Lab, Digital Library & Photographs, the position is responsible for imaging processes, managing imaging and digital library workflows, executing quality assurance, conducting original and complex cataloging, and ensuring timely service for both campus and public imaging requests.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Managing digital imaging and digital library workflows.
- Performing quality control, metadata creation, post-processing, and derivative files creation.
- Performing digitization and imaging in a rapid capture environment utilizing scanners and cameras such as the PhaseOne iXH for patron requests and digital library projects while adhering to the Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI) Technical Guidelines for Digitizing Cultural Heritage Materials.
- Uploading files into the libraries’ storage systems.
- Providing reference and research services for users of photograph collections.
- Processing and describing photograph collections.
- Cataloging in CONTENTdm.
- Supervising student assistants and volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned.
