There is no indication that any data related to Minitex services was affected. University officials issued an update, including plans to contact affected individuals, on September 21.
A statement issued on August 22 by University of Minnesota Chief Information Officer Bernard Gulachek and Chief Information Security Officer Brian Dahlin stated the following: "On July 21, 2023, the University of Minnesota became aware that an unauthorized party claimed to be in possession of sensitive data allegedly taken from the University’s systems."
The University has not indicated that any data related to Minitex services was included in this incident. We are monitoring the situation closely and will share additional information with the community should the need arise.
UPDATE: On September 21, Gulachek released an additional statement detailing the University's plans for mitigation. "Beginning today and for a number of days following, the University will be sending notifications about this incident to people who may have been affected from the email address Data-Incident@notification.umn.edu. The email will provide more detail about the steps being taken in response to this incident."
