Winona State University is hiring a Reference & Liaison Librarian for the next academic year. Application review will begin the week of July 18, 2022.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide in person and virtual reference assistance for all disciplines (10-15 hours a week) at our Research Help Desk. Includes one weekday evening per week until 8:00 PM (each semester) and five Sundays throughout the academic year.
  • Librarian liaisons work with faculty and students in a subject area. Liaison work includes:
    • Working with faculty to support curricular research assignments.
    • Teaching information literacy sessions.
    • Engaging in collection development for assigned liaison departments.
  • Collaborate on special projects which may be assigned by the Dean of the Library and department. Special projects are based on a candidate’s experience and the library’s need. They may include learning about Springshare, digital collections, archives, collection development and more.
  • Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of a field.
  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field.
  • Contribute to student growth and development.
  • Support Winona State University’s mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve. Provide service to the university and community including the program, department, college, university, and greater community.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

  • ALA accredited Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (conferred prior to appointment).
  • [Demonstrated ability to work with students at a variety of research levels.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of providing reference services.
  • Demonstrated familiarity and comfort with technology in libraries.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred:

  • Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.

  • The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.

  • In accordance with Minnesota State policy, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a motor vehicle records check.
