Recently making internet news, a 12-year digital project is now freely available online to search and explore.  Cornell University’s Macaulay Library is home to the world’s largest archive of nature sound and video recordings.  The library has been building its collection since 1929.  This digital collection exists within The Cornell Lab of Ornithology and not only includes recordings of 75% of the world’s bird species but also expands the collection to include, for instance, insect, fish, and mammal recordings.

The collection’s interface includes basic and advanced searching, browsing by taxonomy, or browsing staff picks.  The content you’ll find is unmatched.  Whether you’re interested in hearing what three walrus pups barking sounds like, connecting with the haunting sound of the common loon, discovering the exotic calls of the male Greater Sage-Grouse, or watching a whale shark forage for food, Macaulay Library is your go-to resource for nature sound and video recordings.
