Don't miss the upcoming Media Landscapes event, Uncovering the truth in a news desert, presented by Penelope Abernathy, a journalist and author specializing in the study of news deserts.  Penelope served as the Knight Chair in Journalism and Digital Media Economics at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She is currently a visiting professor at Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications.  Penelope is a former executive with The New York Times and Wall Street Journal and has over 30 years experience in preserving quality journalism by helping news organizations succeed economically in the digital environment.  She recently authored, News Deserts and Ghost Newspapers: Will Local News Survive?, a report that documents the state of local journalism.  

Uncovering the truth in a news desert is scheduled for Wednesday, November 10th, at 1:00 PM CST.
