The University of Minnesota Libraries seeks an innovative, progressive Collection Development Officer to advance its historically rich collections and contemporary programs of content provision. The position aligns Libraries collections with the institution’s comprehensive research programs and extensive undergraduate curricula, both enriched by a land grant mission. Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Content & Collections, the position provides Libraries-wide strategic leadership and direction for University Libraries collections in all formats and leverages Libraries’ resources to meet shared interests of the University’s system campuses.

The Collection Development Officer has leadership and administrative oversight responsibility for collection development and the collections budget, working in collaboration with four disciplinary Collections Coordinators, the Electronic Resources Librarian, subject liaisons, and advisory groups. With annual collection expenditures of over $18 million, the Libraries’ resources support campus, state, and global communities. The University Libraries has placed a recent emphasis on values-based collection investments. The position contributes to the broader Libraries’ and campus engagement in issues associated with knowledge resources and their creation, dissemination, and preservation.
