Please join us February 18, 7:00 p.m., at Elmer L. Andersen Library as Erin Sharkey and Junauda Petrus deliver capstone presentations related to their residency with the Archie Givens, Sr., Collection of African American Literature.
The event celebrates:
- The Givens Foundation’s artists in residence program
- Coffee House Press and its In the Stacks program to put artists in libraries and archives for creative writing
- The Givens Collection of African American Literature, and
- Umbra: Search African American History at the University of Minnesota Libraries
Sharkey is a 2015 Givens Emerging Writers Fellow and Petrus is a program alumna from 2014.
Event Details
Who: Givens Collection of African American Literature, Givens Foundation for African American Literature, and Coffee House Press, featuring Erin Sharkey and Junauda Petrus from Free Black Dirt collective.
What: Public event as capstone to Sharkey and Petrus’s residency in the Givens Collection for African American Literature, as part of the Coffee House Press In the Stacks program, in collaboration with the Givens Foundation. Sharkey and Petrus will give a presentation on their time using the collection and Umbra: Search African American History.
