The Minnesota Office of Higher Education's (OHE) recently announced Minnesota Future Together Grants will pay tuition and fees for students pursuing training and education towards a job in any one of many high-need fields. Specifically, the grants are intended to increase Minnesota's workforce in health care, business, STEM, industry and technology, education, and public service.
The Walz administration allocated $35 million from the federal government's American Rescue Plan to fund the program. Minnesota's tribal colleges or public educational institutions can begin opting in this spring. Eligibility will be based upon the learner's financial aid profile and will be reassessed each semester. Grants will be available until approximately 2024, or until all funds are spent. The program bolsters OHE's efforts to attain its goal for 70 percent of Minnesotans aged 25 to 44 to earn a postsecondary certificate, diploma, or degree by 2025.
