NWHSU Overview

Founded in 1941, NWHSU is a progressive institution educating the next generation of health care professionals. While the institution's history is rooted in the chiropractic profession, NWHSU now focuses more broadly on integrative care, health, and wellness. In addition to our Doctor of Chiropractic, we offer a Doctor in Chinese Medicine, and offerings in massage therapy, nutrition, undergraduate health sciences, and the allied health professions - medical assisting, medical laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, radiation therapy, and radiologic technology. Position Information

The Greenwalt Library provides collection, expertise, services, and facilities that support the University's mission in a way that reflects and respects the diverse needs of our community. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small, agile, group of Librarians. Reporting to the Library Director, this position is responsible for managing the life cycle of print and electronic subscription resources, working in collaboration with other librarians to promote and train on the use of information resources and developing and sharing health sciences subject area expertise. This is a 12-month, faculty position where academic rank and compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience. The Greenwalt Library is located in Bloomington, MN.

Duties

  • Order and maintain print subscriptions, including claiming missing issues, binding, weeding, and shifting
  • Register for and maintain online access to journals
  • Collect and evaluate usage statistics for e-journals and databases
  • Evaluate subscriptions and proposes renewal decisions to library director
  • Plan and promote training opportunities in collaboration with Public Services Librarian
  • Support the creation of self-service training materials on LibGuides platform
  • Assist students and faculty with complex research requests
  • Recommend new subject-specific materials for library collection
  • Scan journals in program subject areas to stay current on latest trends and research
  • Contribute to program- and topic-specific LibGuides
  • Provide reference services to patrons using print and electronic information sources, instructs patrons on the use of reference materials and databases, circulates library materials, responds to library computer issues
  • Serve on faculty committees as needed, participates in service opportunities within the institution or in professional organizations

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program required.
  • 1-3 years of experience with print and electronic serials management or experience in general library principles and practices, including providing reference services, is required.
  • Experience creating instructional documentation and/or training modules, demonstrated understanding of how to implement and/or maintain a diverse and inclusive library environment, and proficiency with MS Excel preferred
