Northwestern Health Sciences University invites applications for the Director of Library Services. This is a 1.0 FTE Ranked Faculty position in the Greenawalt Library. This is a 12-month, faculty position where academic rank and compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Position Information

Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs & Chief Academic Officer, the Director of Library Services creates a vision and a plan to advance the mission and strategic vision of the University by building on the Library's momentum to provide innovative services to NWHSU's campus communities. The Director plans, implements and improves a comprehensive program of onsite and technology-based library and information services designed to support student and other stakeholder success. The successful candidate must have the ability to build and maintain strong and collegial relationships with faculty, students, and other campus constituents and is responsible to stay abreast of trends in librarianship and technology. Responsibilities include the leadership and management of library employees, goal setting, policies, budget, services, and collections management.

Position Qualifications

Candidates will have a Master's degree in Library Sciences and at least seven years of progressively increasing experience in library services with at least five years in a managerial role. Ideally, the Director of Library Services has higher education library experience. This position also requires demonstrated knowledge of current trends and implementation of best practices in library services; a superior ability to communicate, respond and negotiate in a diplomatic manner with all university constituencies, internal and external; a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment; the ability to interpret data, information, and documents to advise decision-making; vendor and budget management experience; the ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality; the ability to act decisively, and make sound and timely decisions; a demonstrated ability to solve problems actively and creatively; the ability to maintain calm through difficult situations; excellent negotiation and conflict management skills; critical systems thinking and problem-solving skills and experiences; the ability to lead and work cooperatively within a team.
