Quick Summary

Looking for free, online, self-paced, relevant professional development this summer? Join us as we work through the new Media Landscapes: 23 Things curriculum each week. This week, we'll register and complete Thing 1.

Media Landscapes 1
Body

Developed by the seven Minnesota Multicounty Multitype Library Systems in collaboration with Minitex, ML:23 is designed to help library staff engage more deeply with the issues and concepts addressed in the Media Landscapes Campaign. By working together through these Things, we will all have a greater understanding of disinformation, information/digital literacy, and how to address these issues in various library settings.

This free, self-paced curriculum is available online. The Things will be released gradually and will remain up indefinitely. CEUs are available for each of the Things you complete. You can do all of the Things, or only those you want to know more about.

This summer, we will spend one week exploring each of the Things that have been created so far. Let’s get started! This week’s assignment:

  1. Register for the program. Registration helps us know how many people are interested in the program. It also allows us to email you when new Things are released and for an evaluation at the end of the program. You may register with any email address that you check regularly.

  2. Complete Thing 1: Getting Started. This Thing will introduce you to the program and to many of the concepts addressed throughout the Media Landscapes Campaign. Simply scroll through and spend some time perusing the information, videos, readings, and quizzes offered in Thing 1, complete the evaluation, and be sure to leave a comment about what you learned, questions the curriculum raised for you, and/or tips for working with patrons and students!
