We recently announced the retirement of Nancy Walton, State Librarian. In planning for Nancy’s transition I have been working closely with State Library Services to review each position, our current procedures, and statutory obligations.
During the transition period I will serve as state librarian. You will continue to receive guidance on issues pertaining to library services. For questions on specific issues feel free to continue to contact:

During this transition period, please feel free to contact me with questions and concerns at kevin.mchenry@state.mn.us or at 651-582-8250. I look forward to working with you, and I thank you for your work to support and partner with us in our efforts to support lifelong literacy and learning.
Nancy has served Minnesota libraries well for the past two decades and we thank her for that service. In other news, Hulen Bivins, State Librarian, recently announced his resignation from the North Dakota State Library. He’ll remain in his current position until the end of August and then assume the reins of State Library Director at the South Carolina State Library in mid-September. We wish our State Library colleagues all the very best as they embrace new opportunities and activities. What will remain constant is their dedication to and advocacy of libraries and services to the citizens. Thank you, Nancy and Hulen, for your contributions to the profession and to libraries and patrons!
