If you’ve even glanced at Library Journal, American Libraries Magazine, or major news networks in recent months, you’ve likely noticed a new trend in services – coloring book clubs.

Over the past few years, the activity of coloring and adult coloring books like the Dover Publications’ Creative Haven series have experienced a rise in popularity.  And libraries are responding by creating coloring programs and promoting its stress-relieving benefits.

Woods Hole Public Library in Massachusetts started a Coloring Book Club earlier this year and have garnered the interest of about 15-20 participants a month ranging in age from the tween years to 70.  The librarian emphasizes that this is a low-cost, low-risk, low-fi service and has plans to continue the Club through the winter.
