Body

Last summer I presented at a great summer staff development. I’d like you to think about your plans for the summer and consider attending this workshop. The teachers whom I’ve met there really enjoy their experience and leave with a unit plan ready to go for the next year.

BestPrep’s Technology Integration Workshop (TIW) will be held July 30 – August 2nd. The four days are filled with keynote and breakout sessions that inspire, motivate, and educate. Topics discussed will be wide-ranging: how to use educational technology, ways to engage students, and skills students need when entering the workforce. The TIW offers many great features desired in professional development including:

  • time for educators to process the newly learned information from the breakout and keynote sessions; this structured time allows teachers to unpack, apply, and to think about how they’ll use the new information.
  • assisting teachers as they modify a unit plan; educators leave with a newly updated unit plan ready to be taught in the coming school year.
  • half-day job shadow allowing educators to see today’s workplace in action; it helps attendees understand the environment where their students may work and the skills needed on the job.
  • structured networking for educators from across Minnesota, at all school levels, and across all subject areas.
  • New feature – a student panel that lets students share about how they want to learn and how they want to use technology in school and personally.

This year’s workshop will be the University of St. Thomas-downtown Minneapolis.  Register fees are low for a four-day workshop; $225 for one teacher, $200 each for two from the same school/district, and $175 each for three or more from the same school/district.  And attendees earn 28 CEUs.

More information is available on their web page. Educators can apply online at www.bestprep.org/tiwapp
