Quick Summary
The Minnesota Digital Library is now accepting applications for new digitization projects about Minnesota, its history, and its people. Learn more in our full Call for Projects.
The Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) is now accepting applications for new digitization projects. MDL seeks materials in, of, and about Minnesota. We document the state’s history and its people, especially those that reflect the diversity of our state’s stories. We encourage potential contributors to think expansively about what is “history” and consider sharing more recent materials as well as older ones.
In addition to our broad call, the Minnesota Digital Library is looking for materials that expand underrepresented subjects, communities, and geographic areas in MDL. Three specific areas of interest for this year's call include:
- Early Aviation: 2027 is the 100 year anniversary of Charles Lindbergh’s trans-Atlantic flight. We would like to add photographs of Minnesota airfields and pilots, flight-related celebrations, and personal recollections from early aviation in Minnesota.
- Rise of AIM (American Indian Movement): 2028 is the 60 year anniversary of AIM: oral histories, photographs, flyers, newsletters, posters, event documentation from community organizations and participants.
- State Parks in Minnesota: Documentation of every State Park. This could include maps, photographs, information about their use and materials related to their development and administration.
These topics are suggestions, not requirements. We welcome proposals on other subjects, too. Every collection offers an opportunity to preserve and share meaningful stories about Minnesota.
