All libraries will be required to move over to the Ebook Central Reader App by December 2026.

What is the Ebook Central Reader App?

Developed and fully supported by Clarivate, the Ebook Central Reader App is a dedicated mobile and desktop app designed for reading downloaded ebooks from the Ebook Central platform. It replaces Adobe Digital Editions as the primary offline reading solution, offering improved security and accessibility.

The new app does not replace the Ebook Central online reader, which users will still use to search, read in the online browser, download individual chapters and organize their bookshelf.

What are the next steps for my library?

To initiate the switch, please complete the one-time upgrade request form with your institution’s details and your preferred date for the transition from Adobe Digital Editions to the Ebook Central Reader App.

We encourage you to complete the upgrade request form as soon as possible. Any library that has not moved over by the end of August 2026 will be automatically assigned a date for the move in subsequent months.

We recognize some institutions may require a completed security evaluation form before moving forward with the app. If your institution requires this, please contact us no later than June 30, 2026 by emailing ebookcentral@clarivate.com.
