The University of Minnesota Libraries seeks an individual as a Processing Assistant to contribute to the physical processing and description of archival collections stewarded by the University of Minnesota Archives. The Processing Assistant will work closely with the Collections Archivist and additional University of Minnesota Archives staff members.

This is an ongoing casual appointment of 14 hours or less per week and is not eligible for benefits.

This position will require work to be done primarily on-site in the Elmer L. Andersen Library or in other library or campus locations.

Responsibilities

  • Processing Assistance (100%)
    • Rebox, folder, and arrange archival materials as appropriate
    • Conduct basic preservation tasks as needed
    • Review collection for private or restricted materials
    • Create accurate box lists
    • Create or update archival descriptions in ArchivesSpace
    • Assist in space management for collections

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Practical experience handling archival collections

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ArchivesSpace collection management tool
  • Familiarity with appraisal and archival description practices

This is a part-time position. The base pay is $22.00/hour.
