Social media and algorithms already shape our feeds, but generative AI adds a new layer of complexity. From hallucinated errors to deliberate misinformation and synthetic media, the digital world is becoming harder and harder to verify. Try this Generative AI Literacy Assessment Tool from the University of Calgary to test your own knowledge. This 20-question quiz is intended to reliably measure generative AI literacy in higher education students, and it is a great baseline for checking your own knowledge.
To help you help your students and patrons, we’ve curated a collection of resources on how generative AI works, its pitfalls, and practical strategies for evaluating content. Use these guides, lessons, and videos to help you learn how to spot red flags, verify claims, and use AI ethically and transparently. While things are changing rapidly in this field, the organizations that have created these resources have updated their content within the year and it is ready to use today.
