Above and Beyond

Congratulations to the Minitex IT Team, recipients of Minnesota Library Association’s Above and Beyond Award! The award is given in recognition of a recent group or individual contribution significant to the Minnesota library community.

MLA offers free three-part series on white supremacy in academic libraries

The series will deconstruct the history and present-day manifestations of white supremacy in academic libraries and archives and demonstrate action plans to enact change on the individual, institutional, and professional levels. The free event will be offered via Zoom, and registration is required.

Maggie Snow appointed to lead Minitex

I am pleased to share the news that Maggie Snow has accepted the position of Director of Minitex, beginning February 24, 2020. Maggie brings significant experience to the role, including appointments in the Missouri River Regional Library, Austin (Minnesota) Public Library, Carver County Library, and Minneapolis Public Library/Hennepin County Library. She currently serves as Director of the Anoka County Library, an eight-branch system serving 340,000 residents.

MLA presents Sara Ring with 2019 Above & Beyond Award

For the second time in five years, the Minnesota Library Association has recognized Sara Ring with an award. MLA President Kirsten Clark presented Sara the Above and Beyond Award on September 19 at the 2019 MLA Annual Conference at Mystic Lake Center.

The 2018 Minnesota Library Association Annual Conference announced a new track of sessions curated specifically for paraprofessional and frontline staff.

Minitex DIME staff at 2017 Minnesota Library Association Annual Conference

The Digital Initiatives & Metadata Education (DIME) staff will be presenting and staffing the Minitex booth and the Minnesota Digital Library professional table at the MLA Annual Conference, October 5-6, 2017. We're presenting "Radical all along: A historical look at Minnesota librarianship," Digital Preservation Day at the Library," and "Mapping the State: Place-based Discovery in Minnesota Reflections."

New contribution to Minnesota Reflections: Minnesota Library Association

New content has been added to the Minnesota Library Association (MLA) Collection in Minnesota Reflections. The collection now includes founding documents of the Association, scripts from a library radio show that ran from 1938-1939, the first traveling library book list from 1898, conference programs dating back to 1896, and association newsletters from 1939-2005.
