1969 flashback: Impressions of Interlibrary Loan in Minnesota

I interviewed dozens of librarians over the last several years through the Minitex oral history project, all available in the Minitex collection for the Minnesota Digital Library. Minitex Memories: PhD student recalls "before times" as Minitex employee

Sometimes PhD students talk about their "before times" and the work they were doing (especially in those bouts of existential wonder of why they even chose to pursue a PhD in the first place). For Evan Marsolek, a PhD student at Loyola University Chicago, that means talking about Minitex.

Minitex Memories: Student workers entertain themselves in the 70's

In the 1970's, student workers coded holdings data onto paper forms, and Earleen Warner (née Petersen) entered them onto tapes which eventually became the printed Minitex Union List of Serials (MULS). Over the course of the project, the students found creative ways to motivate themselves and lighten their work.

In 50 years of service to libraries, Minitex has never shied from a challenge. Minitex's groundbreaking delivery service to Little Free Libraries launched four years ago today, enabling library patrons to borrow books from 50,000 Little Free Libraries in more than 70 countries. In theory, at least.
