Minitex is such a truly unique entity! Sometimes PhD students talk about their "before times" and the work they were doing (especially in those bouts of existential wonder of why we even chose to pursue a PhD in the first place). I never hesitate to tell people that leaving my job at Minitex was one of the most difficult choices I have made in my life. Their follow-up is usually: "What's Minitex?" When I describe to people the mission of Minitex and the various services they provide they are in awe that such a body exists. Doing work where I am constantly trying to get to new sources my fondness for Minitex (and all it did for me during my MA work) only deepens. For me, Minitex is about access and education: it is about resisting the for-profit grind that is all about me-me-me and is instead about turning toward the needs of the various communities.
Do you have a story to tell about Minitex or one of its services? Please share it with us!
