For the first time since 2019, Minitex staff held its Mini-golf Food Drive event on November 30th - and it was a blast! Staff spent the afternoon playing mini-golf and donating shelf stable food. This year, we decided to donate all proceeds from the food drive to student workers at University of Minnesota Libraries on the Twin Cities campus. Many of our libraries have food pantries for our student workers, and with the holidays and winter break soon upon us, this felt like the perfect choice.
Minitex student worker, Jennifer De Laundreau, received Honorable Mention from the Friends of the University of Minnesota Libraries 2018 Outstanding Student Employee Award.

My most experienced student just told me she ordered her cap and gown. This is a bittersweet time of year; I really enjoy working with my student employees, but I don't get to keep them after they graduate. They inevitably move on to "real jobs," though once in a while that turns out to be joining the regular Minitex staff. Others may end up in related fields, or stay in touch on social media, so I don't have to miss them entirely.
