Minnesota Alliance for Heritage Response to offer emergency response training

This three-hour training session is free of charge for library staff (including volunteers) and will take place on August 20 at the Minnesota Fire Museum in Minneapolis. Registration is required.

Library staff invited to join the Minnesota Alliance for Heritage Response

The Minnesota Alliance for Heritage Response invites individuals and institutions to join its network. The purpose of the group is to share resources and create an environment of cooperation and preparedness in order to reduce the impact of emergency situations on Minnesota collections and historic properties.

Celebrate Preservation Week 2022

The April 24-30 Preservation Week theme is "Preservation in the Face of Climate Change" and will highlight the effects of climate change on our shared cultural heritage materials. During Preservation Week, libraries, museums, institutions, and communities are urged to examine the effects on collections and their keepers, as well as resiliency strategies.

Preservation tips brochure now available

Last year we created the brochure Preservation Tips for your Photographs, Documents, and Digital Content to hand out at Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) Scan for Keeps events and other select events. We've had requests from libraries to make this brochure more widely available so that they can order copies to give out to patrons.

Starting a project to organize and preserve photographs, documents and other content can be daunting. For Preservation Week this year, we’re passing along a few tips to point you in the right direction. Whether you need to learn how to house your photographs or other family keepsakes, or you want to protect your digital photographs and documents, we’ll offer some resources to get you going. Though this article focuses on personal preservation, many of these tips translate to caring for organizational content as well.
