New Minitex Conversation: Metadata Practices for Diversity in Collection Management

In this special edition of the Minitex Conversation Collection Development series, we are collaborating with folks from the Technical Services Section (TSS) of the Minnesota Library Association. We will talk about diversity audits with two teams of librarians: ​​​​​​​Naomi Skulan and Peter Bremer from University of Minnesota Morris, and Christie Kess and Christian Koegel from Dakota County Library.

Minitex exhibits and offers sessions at MLA

Minitex staff will be exhibiting and presenting several sessions at the Minnesota Library Association's Annual Conference at RiverCentre, in St. Paul, on October 4th and 5th.

Library community-organizing art project on display at Minnesota State Mankato

The exhibit, "Unseen Labor," highlights the work that metadata librarians do, and their pride in it. The collaborative exhibit was spearheaded by staff at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and will be on display at Memorial Library through May 8.

NISO’s Recommended Practice for Video and Audio Metadata now available for public comment

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) announced today that its draft Video and Audio Metadata Recommended Practice is now available for public comment through August 5, 2022. This new Recommended Practice establishes guidelines for metadata for video and audio assets including administrative metadata, semantic metadata, technical metadata, rights metadata, and accessibility metadata.

NISO Publishes E-Book Metadata Recommended Practice

The new Recommended Practice, NISO RP-29-2022, E-Book Bibliographic Metadata Requirements in the Sale, Publication, Discovery, and Preservation Supply Chain, was approved January 29 and published February 10, 2022.
