Minitex Associate Director, Mary Parker, Announces Early Retirement
Upon hearing Mary’s announcement for early retirement, our thoughts and feelings were understandably mixed. On the one hand, we are happy for Mary’s well-earned retirement and excited for her future plans.
Gratitude for our student employees
My most experienced student just told me she ordered her cap and gown. This is a bittersweet time of year; I really enjoy working with my student employees, but I don't get to keep them after they graduate. They inevitably move on to "real jobs," though once in a while that turns out to be joining the regular Minitex staff. Others may end up in related fields, or stay in touch on social media, so I don't have to miss them entirely.
Retirement Celebration for Kathy Drozd
Kathy’s official last day at Minitex is March 1. Please join us in Room 120 of the Elmer L. Andersen Library on the University of Minnesota's West Bank Campus to celebrate her career and wish her well as she enters retirement.

A New Name for Digitization, Cataloging & Metadata Education
Due to changes in the digital landscape and in response to the Minnesota Digital Library’s structural changes (recommended by the MDL Governance Task Force last summer), and acknowledging overall program growth, the Minitex Digitization, Cataloging & Metadata Education unit found it necessary to consider another name change. Our new name reflects the expertise and the services we provide today and those we will provide in the future.
