Quick Summary
The initial phase of the process to move the current MnLINK user interface to the OCLC WorldCat Discovery platform is underway. Find out about more details in this article.
We have begun the initial phase of the process to move the current MnLINK user interface to the OCLC WorldCat Discovery platform. The contract with OCLC includes options to allow for the holdings of all current MnLINK locations to be included in the search results. The non-OCLC cataloging locations (Viking Library System, Kitchigami Regional Library, East Central Regional Library, and Duluth Public Library) have participated in a webinar led by Mike Savage of OCLC who is coordinating the holdings registration work we’ll be doing for this project. We are planning webinars in October for the libraries that use OCLC CatExpress or full cataloging. The same webinar will be provided twice to allow more staff to participate. The dates for the one-hour webinars are Tuesday, October 6 at 10:00 AM and Thursday, October 29 at 1:00 PM. Both webinars will be taped for later viewing. Access information will be distributed in October. As a reminder, the contract with OCLC calls for the reclamation work to be completed by June 30, 2018 at the latest. All locations that are currently represented on the MnLINK Gateway are eligible for the reclamation.
A Marketing Committee has been created to focus on materials needed as we transition to the new discovery interface. We are pleased to have representatives from MnLINK Gateway libraries on the group. The MnLINK Gateway logo will be redesigned as part of this effort.
