Body

The Minnesota Digital Library is excited to announce the addition of new materials into Minnesota Reflections. The newly digitized oral history collection from Saint Cloud State University documents the experiences of World War II veterans from St. Cloud, Stearns County, and central Minnesota. The archivist at Saint Cloud State University selected a number of oral histories from the World War II Veterans Oral History Collection. The audio files are further enhanced by the inclusion of transcripts. These oral histories help tell the story of Minnesota's contribution to the war effort and include information on a wide range of topics. Subjects covered include: enlistees experiences during basic training, Army construction and building projects, experiences as a P.O.W., fighting in the Pacific Theater, the North African campaign and the liberation of concentration camps in Europe. These oral histories document an important time in American history and will be of interest to a number of users, including both History Day students and World War II historians.
