Staff at Minitex and the Minnesota Digital Library are pleased to announce the formal launch of a new resource for Minnesota Reflections users. The Minnesota Digital Library's Primary Source Sets now serve as an online resource for teachers, students, and anyone interested in Minnesota history topics. Each Primary Source Set focuses on a specific historic topic and showcases some of the resources found in Minnesota Reflections that relate to that subject. The following list includes the topics that are currently available on the MDL website:
- Civilian Conservation Corps in Minnesota
- Discrimination in Advertising Trade Cards
- Made in Minesota: Patent Medicine on the Prairie
- Mining on the Iron Range
- Morgan Park: U.S. Steel's Company Town in Duluth, Minnesota
- Seth Eastman: Depictions of Native American Life
- Sinclair Lewis' Main Street
- Temperance to Prohibition
- World War I on the Minnesota Home Front
Each Primary Source Set will help students develop critical thinking skills and assist teachers in introducing primary materials into their classrooms. In addition to the digitized resources, each set inlcudes a Teacher Guide with Discussion Questions and Classroom Activities. We modeled our work on the Digital Public Library of America's efforts to create primary source materials.
