Were you at LibTech 2018 this past March 14th and 15th? MDL Outreach Coordinator Molly Huber and MDL Metadata Librarian Greta Bahnemann were there, and made a presentation on the first day of the conference, March 14th. The presentation was entitled Minnesota Digital Library: Today and Tomorrow, and focused first on the history of MDL itself, stretching back to the early 2000's. Huber then talked about the recent launch of the Rights Statements Standardization pilot project, during which user-friendly standardized rights statements describing the copyright status of individual items in Minnesota Reflections will be applied to the collections of five pilot participant organizations. Bahnemann next described the philosophy, approach, and implementation of the Geospatial Metadata project, which undertook to add specific geolocated metadata to individual Minnesota Reflections records. She also spoke about the on-going Primary Source Sets project, where primary source material on particular topics from Minnesota Reflections is packaged with external resources and teacher guides to provide a deeper dive into selected subject matter. Huber wrapped up the presentation with an overview of continuing MDL projects and future goals for Minnesota Reflections for Phase 15 and beyond.
