On June 5, I traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico to teach at the 2019 Summer Educaional Institute (SEI). SEI is a joint project of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) and the Visual Resources Association Foundation. SEI seeks to provide new and emerging information professionals with a substantive educational and professional development opportunity focused on digital image management, the information and experience needed to stay current in a rapidly changing field, and the opportunity to create and be part of a network of supportive colleagues.
My role was to provide instruction in metadata for digital collections. Over the course of the day, I taught three separate classes: Metadata for Cultural Heritage Materials, Embedded Metadata, and Metadata Practicum: Breaking the Ice on Practical Projects. Attendees completed hands-on activities, worked collaboratively with each other, and enjoyed questions and discussion time as well.
