Quick Summary

The new WorldCat Discovery Service interface is now accessible from the ELM website.

Body

The new WorldCat Discovery Service interface is now accessible from the ELM website.  The WorldCat Discovery interface will replace FirstSearch interface access to WorldCat and the FirstSearch Base Package databases provided through Minitex. However, until OCLC decommissions the FirstSearch interface in 2016, access to WorldCat will be provided via both interfaces: FirstSearch as well as through the new WorldCat Discovery Services.

If you'd like to begin setting up your library's custom link to WorldCat Discovery, please see instructions below.

Custom Link Access

OCLC has created links for every Minnesota library that will authenticate both remote and in-library users into WorldCat Discovery and provide usage statistics to libraries.

Locate your library in this spreadsheet and add the corresponding link to your website. It is recommended that this link be placed on a secure page.

Set-Up Administrative Account

To customize and gather usage statistics, you'll need to set-up the administrative account for your library. Locate your library's authorization in this spreadsheet.

  • Navigate to OCLC Services.
  • Select "Create Account."
  • You'll then need to enter your credentials (Authorization & Administrative Password).
  • Continue through the prompts.  This will give you access to Administrative permissions.

If you need help identifying or creating your library's credentials, please contact Anna Jones or OCLC Order Services.
