from ProQuest

As ProQuest celebrates its 75th anniversary, we remain committed to innovation and continually enhancing our services to the library and research community.

Like you, we take our role as stewards of intellectual property very seriously. I would like to advise you that ProQuest is implementing use of CAPTCHAs to ensure appropriate use of our databases and content. I would like you to be aware of this in case your staff or library patrons have questions.

You've likely encountered a CAPTCHA in many different settings on the web. A CAPTCHA requires a user to type a series of letters, numbers, or words into a box to ensure a human being is making the request, rather than an automated tool, commonly called a bot. Once users enter the correct words or letters displayed, they may proceed with their tasks.

ProQuest is implementing CAPTCHAs because we have detected bots attempting to download information from our databases without permission. Using CAPTCHA will help protect the rights of copyright holders by ensuring that information is accessed only by authorized users.

Our system is tuned to minimize the impact on users, and we anticipate that the vast majority of users will not see CAPTCHA prompts. We expect to launch this initiative by Monday, August 19. If you have questions or concerns about CAPTCHA, please contact support@proquest.com.

As we have done for the past 75 years, we are committed to working with the library and research community to continually innovate and improve librarians' and researchers' outcomes. I welcome your suggestions and feedback for improvement. Please email me directly with your comments. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for being a customer. We appreciate your continued support of ProQuest.

Sincerely,
