Saint Paul College invites applications for the position of Instructional Librarian/Infomation Studies.

The Instructional Librarian is responsible for providing research and curriculum support for Saint Paul College’s Division of Liberal Arts and Fine Arts. Reporting to the Director of Academic Support and working closely with the Library Director, the person in this position develops and delivers information literacy workshops to students; provides research support to students and faculty; creates print and digital research guides; and assists faculty in designing culturally relevant research projects in a range of modes and media. All library staff provide coverage at the front desk as needed and assist the Library Director in operations.

This position has a special focus on providing information literacy instruction and support for students and faculty in English composition, English for Academic Purposes, and Reading. Saint Paul College serves a considerable number of English language learners, and the ideal candidate will have the expertise to develop instructional methods and materials that best serve our culturally and linguistically diverse population. The Instructional Librarian will work closely with the Library Director and liberal arts and fine arts faculty to develop our collection to make it more reflective of the current population of Saint Paul and the current research interests of students and faculty. The library is housed within Academic Support, and the Instructional Librarian will be expected to collaborate with colleagues on student retention and success initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in library science or equivalent degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in an academic library
  • Demonstrated ability to teach information literacy workshops or prior college teaching experience
  • Experience working with diverse learners and a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across the curriculum
  • Demonstrated ability to support multimodal research projects
  • Second graduate degree in instructional design or a liberal arts field
  • Success working with English language learners
  • Proficiency in Somali, Hmong, Spanish, or another language commonly spoken in Saint Paul
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles
  • Familiarity with concepts, methods, and software used in audio and video production, photography, and/or graphic design
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current methodologies and assessment practices in library instruction
