Are you like us? Have you been putting off creating that online tutorial? Have you found yourself saying, “I’ll get to that this summer”? Well, it’s summer - and we have an online program for you!
The Instruction Round Table of the Minnesota Library Association (MLA) invites all interested librarians and library staff to take part in our Creating Online Learning Objects: I’ll Get To It This Summer online program from August 6th - 22nd.
This program will walk you through the process of planning an online learning object for your information literacy instruction in your library using the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) instructional design model.
Participation in this program will allow you to take some time out of your schedule to create a development plan while receiving feedback from colleagues during the process, and helping them through their process in return. You will not be expected to have a completed learning object by the end of the program, but you will complete a plan for all the steps of the instructional design process.
This program consists of eight modules delivered through Canvas over the course of two and a half weeks. Each module will provide basic, foundational knowledge about each step of the ADDIE instructional design process in addition to information on best practices and technologies for creating online learning objects. Using your own example project, you will complete the plan for each step of the process and receive feedback from/provide feedback to other program participants throughout the process.
By the end of this course, participants will:
- Identify best practices for online learning object creation
- Select appropriate technologies for delivering your online learning object
- Develop a plan for creating an online learning object using the ADDIE model
Audience: Librarians, Library Staff, School Media Specialists
Cost: FREE
Course dates: August 6 – 22
Approximate time commitment: 15 hours (6 hours/week for 2.5 weeks)
