Time is scarce in archives, where staffing shortages and long to-do lists make prioritization essential. This workshop introduces the prioritization matrix, a flexible project-management tool for making consistent, evidence-based decisions among similar tasks. The presenter will show how matrices can guide projects such as processing backlogs and digital collection migrations. Participants will then build a matrix in Excel or Google Sheets by defining and scoring criteria, weighting tasks with formulas, and producing a prioritized task list. The method can support collection management, outreach, preservation, conservation, digitization, and other archival projects.
