Digitizing our collections is not the same thing as preserving them. Organizations need to plan for and actively maintain their digital content so that it can continue to be accessed in the future. This course will cover the basics of how to get started and continue to build upon your digital preservation local practice/program.
By the end of the class, you will know more about:
- Common risks and how to protect digital content
- Storage considerations (storing multiple copies, preservation file formats, and more)
- Preservation metadata
- Assessment and building a digital preservation program
- Digital preservation community resources
Who Should Attend?
This introductory series is for staff of any library, archive, museum, or other organization planning or already working on digital projects. No previous knowledge about digital preservation is assumed.
