Session 4: Describing Corporate Bodies

In this session we will explore how corporate bodies are described in authority records. We will consider how RDA theory impacts recording information about corporate bodies as creators, contributors, and subjects of works. We will discuss core elements, access points, and attributes to consider when recording a corporate body name, preferred name, or variant name. We will understand which sources of information are important for decision making about corporate body names. We will do a deeper dive into identifying corporate bodies and disambiguating these entities in the world. We will practice how to look up rules in RDA for doing corporate name work with examples and exercises.
