Session 2: Describing Persons

In this session we will explore how to describe persons in authority records. We will consider how RDA theory impacts recording information about people. We will discuss core elements, and access points to consider when recording a name, preferred name, or variant name. We will understand which sources of information are important for decision making about names. We will discuss different attributes of persons including dates, places, honorifics, language, affiliations, and more. We will practice how to look up rules in RDA for doing name work with examples and exercises.
